ISLAMABAD – Ali Mustafa Ishaq Dar, son of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, has sent Rs 5 billion legal notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
Ali asked Imran to tender apology to Dar family within 14 days for leveling ‘false allegations’ against them, otherwise, Rs 5 billion defamation suit will be filed against him. The legal notice has been sent by jurist consultant on behalf of Ali Dar to Imran on his Bani Galla Islamabad address.
It said that Imran during his press conference on April 10 leveled false allegations against Dar and hurt his reputation. “We refute and condemn the baseless charges,” he said in the notice.
The PTI chairman had alleged that Ali and Mujtaba Hasnain Dar own two towers worth billions of rupees in UAE. “This claim was false and baseless and runs contrary to facts,” the notice said.
The legal notice said that Imran’s press conference has damaged reputation of the Dar family. The business being run by Ali and his brother was in accordance with legal norms. Ishaq Dar has no partnership or share in HDS group. Ali and Mujtaba has started business in UAE by obtaining loans and gifts from their father and details in this regard have been mentioned in declaration of assets of Dar which have been filed with the Election Commission.
HD Tower in Dunbai is not in the ownership of Dar family, however, a few units of this tower are owned by Dar family, it was clarified. The legal notice said that it was claimed by Imran that Dar owns a bungalow-cum-palace in Dubai while the factual position was that Dar had purchased the palace in 2005 at a cost of 900,300 dirham.
Loan in this regard was obtained from Tamvail Public Limited firm and Ishaq Dar gifted this palace to Ali Dar in 2013. Ishaq Dar had earned the money for providing financial services in UAE, the notice stated.
The PTI chairman has been asked to tender apology within 14 days of receipt of the notice, otherwise Rs 5 billion defamation suit will be filed against him in the court.
